301 Redirects And Links Give Away Same Link Juice - Google

Google Matt Cutts: 301 Redirects Dilute PageRank Equally To NormalLinks

I saw an interview between Matt Cutts and Eric Enage three years ago, in that interview they were discussion about 301 Redirect DO NO Pass Full PageRank and link worth.

The reality is, they don’t pass full PageRank but neither does normal links, which we knew. The problem was most folks felt that 301 redirects pass minimum PageRank than normallinks and that is not correct.

Matt posted a video and saying:
The amount of PageRank that dissipates through a 301 is currently identical to the amount of PageRank that dissipates through a link.
So at present, there is no difference between a 301 and a link in terms of PageRank dilution.

Therefore, if you have many redirects, like chains of them from one url to yet another to another, that is a called bad thing. Yet one or so won't damage you.

Here is Matt's video:

This is obviously one of the specific topics that is pretty cut and dry yet once you start to ask additionally questions, with more variables in the mix, it can become a "what if" type of scenario that is not so drop and dry. As a result we had the misunderstandings in the first place, because Matt did not want to lead folks on the first time - I suppose

Google Page Rank

If you are reading this article, you must know the search engine Google launched in September 1990 and is today’s largest and most popular search engine on the internet. The quality of Google’s Page rank technology depends on the factors such as:

  • Relevancy of your site in terms of a searched word
  • Freshness of your site content
  • How frequently a keyword is used in your site
  • Popularity and quality of your site link
Boosting a Google Page rank is not a one day process, it’s a long term process for which you can hire a digital media agency who are experts in SEO (search engine optimisation) and SMO (social media optimisation) techniques which are effective ways to boost your Google Page rank. You can achieve a good Google Page rank by following these effective techniques.

Here are some tips and tricks for achieving a good Google Page rank

Get incoming links:

The best and most convenient method to boost your Google Page rank is to have a number of incoming links from relevant highly ranked sites, this is slow process which may take time to make a difference but it will make a big difference over time. The main strategy here is tocreate incoming links to your site from high quality, authoritative sites and blogs that have good traffic which are related to your site category.

Make use of SEO techniques:

Search engine optimization plays a vital role in boosting your Google Page rank. Some of the basic SEO techniques are:

  1. Find out the popularity of keywords to get the traffic with the help of keyword searches
  2. Choose relevant and appropriate keywords for the content on your site
  3. Make use of keyword phrases that are 2 or 3 words in length as most of the keyword searches are 2 or 3 words
  4. Insert your keyword phrase in the title of your blog post
  5. Make use of keyword phrases in your subtitle and headings to increase the frequency of the keyword

Publish original content:

Never copy content from another site to your site, as Google’s algorithm can’t tell the difference. So as a result either the original site will reap the benefits or the your copied one will be downgraded or all the sites will be downgraded and once your site page rank is downgraded, it’s really difficult to get it back again.

Generate quality links:

Many website owners, knowing that incoming links helps to boost their Google Page rank, have begun commenting anywhere over the internet and do random link exchanges with anyone they can. However, Google wants only quality links not quantity.

Write quality content:

If the content is of good quality many different people will link to your site. Catch everyone eye by leaving good comments, guest posting, taking part in forums, emailing directly and so on.

Google Reminds Webmasters: Google PageRank Penalty

Matt Cutts & John Mueller Discussion About Selling Links Can Lead To PageRank Penalty

Google PageRank Penalty

Yesterday, Matt Cutts and John Mueller of Google both replied the similar query on PageRanLpenalties for selling links without knowing the other answered them. It has been a while since a Google talked about selling links and the penalty associated with it, so to have two Googlers address it the similar day is a special day.

Matt Cutts already posted it on this personal SEO blog, post title why did my pagerank go decline. In short, the site was selling links that passed PageRank and however Google lower the PageRank of the site and trusts the links less on the site. This is nothing new, covered it lots of times.

John Mueller replied it also on a Google Hangout, about 40 minutes 32 seconds in on this video, I will put it below and you can see he call Barry Schwartz out a bit.

Before anybody begins yelling their heads off at me, do so on this post and not here.

Google added the terms to their webmaster guidelines and has done videos on the subject.

Matt Cutts shared the email he sent to the publisher about why their PageRank dropped. In short, he said “PageRank drops by 30-50%” typically are due to “selling links that pass PageRank.” Matt went on to explicate they found, not sure if it was automatically or manually, links labeled “sponsored that passed PageRank.” Matt added that Google “received an outside spam report about your site” with details on different paid links on other sections of the web site.
