Google News Gets Serious About Quality Guidelines

The Google News Blog publicized they have revamped their news level of quality guidelinesto make it magnificent that if you disrupt their guidelines they can footwear you out of theGoogle News index.

Google wants you to know that since Google News is not an internet marketing operated service, you using it to sell stories is against their recommendations. Google said "Google News is not a marketing service, and we consider articles that employ these types ofadvertising strategies to be in violation of our quality guidelines."


Particularly, news sites that mix news content with affiliate, promotional, advertorial, or marketing materials for your organization or another party goes against Google's guidelines. If you do that, block the articles from being indexed or included in Google News.

The following is the major new section added to the news guidelines:

Our webmaster quality guidelines cover the most common forms of deceptive or manipulative behavior, but Google News may respond negatively to other misleading practices not listed in these guidelines. Publishers who strive to uphold the the basic principles of good journalism will provide a much better user experience and consequently likely enjoy better ranking than those who spend their time looking for loopholes they can exploit. Please note that failure to follow these guidelines may result in the removal of your article(s), or entire publication, from Google News.

The changes contain:

• Now everyone can search new articles, new sources and even subjects of interest with intuitive gestures. If you want more information or learn about the browsing experience, look at here
• Swipe horizontally between sections – from Business to Entertainment, for example - or tap "Explore in depth" to see multiple articles and other info related to a particular story. More on personalization here.

Searching For Your Dream Hotel? Google Focusing Google Hotel Finder Tool 

Hotel industry is pretty large and not to easy find out proper hotels but when I start to find hotels through Google, suddenly I shocked but I feel that it’s maybe Google bug. Today, I challenge you to find out a hotel in Google search engine. Try exploring for hotels like [hotels new york] or [seattle hotels]. Why I am searching this hotels in Google because my friendswant to go out of country that’s why I am searching hotels but I dare you to not search aGoogle Hotel Finder Tool. Google had launched this tool since last year. I hope all of you know that this tool. I have seen that Google hotel finder in “sponsored" listing right below the Google ads and right above the Google organic search outcomes.

When I found these things, then I think that maybe it’s my imagination then I enter inWebmasterWorld thread. Over there various SEOs and Webmasters are not in jolly mood. Naturally, those who are belong to Hotel business, they are going in loses. But some seekers are not happy also because they can’t find proper search results.

Post Google Penguin: Publishers Fear Guest Content

EGOL, recently someone posted a thread at Cre8asite Forums about his recent fear or vexation around accepting guest posts, despite the quality of it, due to Google penguinupdate. 

He said that he discovered that accepting articles with links at the bottom would get him in difficulty with the Google Penguin update. Frankly, I believed Penguin was largely about external incoming links, not internal links.

Here is what EGOL wrote:

Since Penguin, I am getting a flood of article offers. Most of this content is nonsense. Some of it is "average" quality (which I don't publish). Some can be fabulous, unique, highly desirable. So now I am deciding if I want to accept some of this content, knowing that I could be publishing links to sites that could have past, present or future manipulation.

I have a potential article that I really like and that would be very popular with my visitors. The author's site position #1 in a hard niche and they don't have enough content on their site to hold that position from editorial links (IMO).

I have not seen any articles or discussion about the cautions that a publisher should be following in these days of post-penguin linking.

Do you think EGOL and other publishers need to concern?
